INDIGO

INDIGO DESIGN is a Tokyo-based design studio founded by Satoshi Kan in 2006.
The studio works primarily across furniture and product design, collaborating with brands and manufacturers from concept development through design.
Alongside commissioned work, INDIGO continues to develop independent explorations presented through exhibitions and international design platforms.

Our Approach

We work primarily across furniture and product design, with close attention to the people who use them and the specific needs of each project.
We explore design directions that respond to each product and brand.
Our aim is to create designs that remain relevant and valued over time.

What We Do

Design across furniture, products, and spatial experience — developed from concept through to final form.

Each project begins with a question about perception — how this will be experienced, and what it will leave behind.

From collectible furniture to product development, INDIGO works with clients to create designs that respond to both practical needs and human experience.

Collaboration

INDIGO works with brands, manufacturers, and creative partners to develop furniture and products from concept through to realization.
Each collaboration begins with an understanding of the brand’s identity, context, and ambitions.

Satoshi Kan

Designer / Founder — INDIGO DESIGN

Satoshi Kan is the founder and designer of INDIGO DESIGN, a Tokyo-based design studio.
After graduating from Kuwasawa Design School, he worked as chief designer at a design studio before establishing INDIGO DESIGN in 2006.

Through collaborations with brands across product development, his practice has remained rooted in product design. Since 2025, he has expanded into furniture design and independent explorations of form, perception, and the creative process.

Within this context, Geometry of Consciousness is one perspective that informs his creative practice. It explores the relationship between geometric images that arise through the act of creation and form.

In 2025, he presented an immersive VR experience at Milan Design Week. The following year, at Milan Design Week 2026, he unveiled his furniture works GRAVITY and FRAME as physical pieces at Superstudio Più. GRAVITY was also featured in domus, the international architecture and design publication based in Milan.
