GEOMETRY OF CONSCIOUSNESS

Form shapes perception.

Structure shapes experience.

Philosophy

Design is not the creation of objects. It is the shaping of how the world is felt.

At INDIGO, we work with geometry, material, light, and spatial continuity — not as aesthetic tools, but as instruments that act directly on human awareness.

Every form carries a question: how will this be perceived? What will it leave inside the person who encounters it?

Satoshi Kan

Designer / Founder — INDIGO DESIGN

Satoshi Kan is the founder and designer of INDIGO DESIGN, a Tokyo-based design studio.

After graduating from Kuwasawa Design School, he worked as chief designer at a design studio before establishing INDIGO DESIGN in 2006.

Through collaborations with brands at the forefront of product development, he has built a distinctive design language grounded in product design. Since 2025, he has expanded into furniture design, exploring how invisible forces, spatial perception, and human experience take physical form.

In 2025, he presented an immersive VR experience at Milan Design Week. The following year, at Milan Design Week 2026, he unveiled his furniture works Gravity and Frame as physical pieces at Superstudio Più. Gravity was featured in domus, the international architecture and design publication based in Milan, presented as a chair that explores gravity as form.

INDIGO

INDIGO DESIGN is a Tokyo-based design studio founded by Satoshi Kan in 2006.

Rooted in product design, the studio creates furniture, objects, and spatial concepts that explore the relationships between form, perception, and human experience.

INDIGO's work bridges physical products and forward-thinking concepts, combining a refined aesthetic sensibility, a deep understanding of materiality and technology, and a sensitivity to invisible forces — gravity, balance, light, and spatial presence.

Each project translates long-term research into physical form, opening possibilities for future collaboration with brands, manufacturers, and cultural institutions.

What We Do

Design across furniture, products, and spatial experience — developed from concept through to final form.

Each project begins with a question about perception — how this will be experienced, and what it will leave behind.

From collectible furniture to product development, INDIGO works with clients for whom design is not decoration, but a means of shaping experience.
